A Good News Story

Don't you guys sometimes feel that there is just too much bad news around today? I certainly do and I don't have to spend my days reading and writing stories like you guys do! How you all manage to stay sane is a miracle!

Anyway, the solution is here, well sort of anyway!

This week we're going to do a bit of an experiment. We're going to be doing some voice blogging. What I'd like you guys to do is to leave a voice message for me and your colleagues using this clever little tool you see below here.

  1. First click on where it says "Listen to my Greeting." You'll hear me explain the task for this week. You might want to listen a couple of times to hear the task well, before you record your answer.
  2. Click on the little button that says "Record with a mic," it looks like a microphone.
  3. Record your message. You can talk for up to two minutes!
  4. Go to "Listen to my Messages," listen to the messages everyone else has added. if you would like to, record a comment or a question for your colleagues.
  5. Enjoy communicating outside the classroom!

A Person We All Admire

Following on from our lesson looking at people we admire and our famous Trentino, Giorgio Graffer, I'd like to invite all of us to post a short comment about someone that you really admire. It could be anyone; your faily, a historical figure, an ex-school mate or someone famous. Just let us know a bit about them and why it is you like them.

I'm looking forward to reading your ideas!

Seth.

Italian Jounalists

In his Euro blog Yesterday, Mark Mardell, the Europe correspondent for the BBC wrote a lot about Italian journalists and journalism. It's a very long article, but it's well worth reading. You can read it here.

Read through and while you are reading consider these points:

  • Do you agree that Emilio Fede is impartial?
  • Is this a good or a bad thing?
  • Would it be ok if other parties had similar access to the media?
  • Is it true that the Italian guild of journalists was started by Mussolini?
  • Do you still have to use a typewriter when doing the exam to join the guild?
  • Is Beppe Grillo a positive or negative influence on Italian journalism?
  • Is Beppe Grillo a new concept for Italian politics or is he simply the same old thing?
  • Why do you think Gherardo Colombo didn't want to talk about the election and Berlusconi?
When you finishing reading it, you can write a reply to Mark Mardell's blog post.

Alternatively, if you are very busy or if Mark's article is too difficult, why don't you think about writing a post to the BBC "Have Your Say"site. They are discussing the interesting question: "What should Italy expect from Berlusconi?" It should be an interesting debate! I wrote a post talking about our lesson there :-)

Buon Lavoro!

Relaxing

Relaxing is important, don't you think?

There's no way that any of us could do our jobs well, be alert and interesting unless we spend some good, quality time relaxing. But one person's relaxing Sunday afternoon spent skiing could be another person's idea of cold, dangerous hell.

What do you like to do to relax? Do you potter around in the garden growing vegetables or doing D.I.Y, or do you go out in the mountains with a pair of skis, some seal skins and an "ARVA" and ski up a mountain?

Write a reply telling us your idea of a nice relaxing weekend and what you like to do when you're not busy at work.

Welcome to Trento Hacks!

Hi there and welcome to our blog!

This is the space where we will chat, do some activities and plan the direction of our lessons outside the class.

The first thing we're going to discuss is:

Have you ever kept a blog before?
